Why most "AI baby" apps look like filters

Half the apps ranking for "future baby" today are really face-blending filters in App Store costumes. They stretch parent A's forehead, average parent B's eyes, and ship you a slightly uncanny PhotoLab output.

We rebuilt the pipeline from scratch on **BabyGen Vision** — our proprietary neural portrait engine — for two reasons: quality and speed.

Reading the face before painting it

When you upload two parent photos, the first job isn't generation. It's reading. We lift dozens of anchor points per face — eye corners, nose bridge, jaw angles, lip shape, ear curl — and turn them into a structural blueprint. That blueprint, not raw pixels, feeds the generator.

  • Traits are averaged proportionally so we don't just pick the

"dominant" face.

  • Skin tone is sampled from a patch across the cheek and neck so

colour reads continuous, not spliced.

  • Hair density and texture are modelled separately from colour.

Under 30 seconds, start to finish

BabyGen Vision is tuned for responsiveness. Most portraits land between 18 and 28 seconds — including the safety pass. That's roughly 4× faster than open-source image models on equivalent hardware, at a higher perceptual quality bar.

Privacy is the other rebuild

Parent uploads are wiped inside 60 minutes no matter what you do. Saved portraits live only in your private gallery, and nothing ever enters a training corpus. (See the [privacy policy](/legal/privacy) for specifics.)

What's still hard

Newborn eye colour, twin renders and very low-light parent photos remain the hardest cases. We publish per-category accuracy on our [status page](/legal/status) and keep tightening month over month.
